And PS love your idea of the writing course. I am a freelance writing coach. I work at a Uni but recently set up a website to offer Christians help to share their testimonies (for any budget) because like you, I believe in the power of sharing our stories and every person I have helped to do so has blessed me personally too- through their story. May God bless your efforts 💗
Can’t tell you how grateful I am for the words of encouragement from a fellow writing coach, Anna. It’s really helping to re-write the narrative in my head that anyone who is ahead of me on the same career path might look at me and see only a nuisance or a fool — a silly but very real story I’ve been subconsciously telling myself for years. I am so inspired to hear that you do this work too, and so grateful for your support! 🥹
Praise God for His sweet and timely encouragement. The enemy is ruthless, but praise God that in every attack, Christ takes our roots deeper into His love for us and His Body. I see Him doing that in us both. You are going to be such a gift to so many and they in turn to you too 💖 Excited to see what Jesus does. And BTW I love the name you chose too.
Beautiful. Corrie is dear to my heart: born in my husband's home town (20 minutes drive from here). You would love the book on her last 5 years (written by her carer) - when she had a stroke and lost her movement and speech. It shows how powerfully the Spirit works through us - in and through illness and human weakness. It is called: The Five Silent Years of Corrie ten Boom by Pamela Rosewall Moore
I was so excited to discover it too. I first read Corrie's words as a teenager. They left an indellible mark on me. What I love most about her is that she is incredibly honest about her weakness and struggles, which gives all the glory to God and really strips away the enemy's attempts to cripple people beneath the weight of condemnation.
I remember reading about her repeated struggle with bitterness and how incredibly honest she was about it being all Jesus, who repeatedly set her free. She is so unlike many of the voices being lifted up today: pure, authentic Jesus.
I gave my dear Prodigal elderly friend that book and she read it in the final months and weeks of her life: so hungry for Jesus, the true Jesus. He oozes out of Corrie: whose love and witness in Christ Jesus lives on.
I am SO glad you listened to your Mom: truly Jesus in her drawing you into His arms. As I walk and pray in her home country I wonder if I am an answer to one of her many prayers for her people, for whom her heart no doubt ached and ached. It feels like such a privilege to walk her home streets and pray.
It's lovely to see you post again, and this post is such a balm. I've had a lot of similar experiences myself when praying out loud, it's such a powerful thing!
Corrie Ten Boom - what an absolute lioness of the faith. I am in awe of her life. And yet, she was just a very ordinary woman, who found herself in extraordinary circumstances, with a mighty God right by her side. Her life after the war is also incredible.
So glad her story brought revelation to you, friend. Thank you for sharing yours with us xxx
I loved this Christina, so much. The lovely thing about writing one’s feelings down and sharing them with others is that although we are all on different paths in life, there are so many parallels and intricacies that we can all relate to and share and know that we are not alone in our life journey.
This also resonated with me: “…because I embody the grief of war stories in a way that alters my mood for days. When you struggle with depression, the last thing you want is to add to your sadness – no matter how noble or real the story may be”. Same. Stories will stay with me for days. I feel everything.
Thank you so much for reading and sharing your thoughts, Mackenzie. It never stops being refreshing to find kindred souls on here. I’m so grateful my words resonated with you. ♥️
Just sharing a podcast that you might enjoy. Nan Gurley is an actress who plays Corrie in the new remake of the Hiding Place. She is interviewed on the podcast and spoke at our church recently. The movie is airing on Apple TV and I loved the original movie and am excited to watch this one as well. We need more Corrie Ten Boom's today!
Christina thank you for your honesty and vulnerability in sharing. I don't wrestle with depression - though my husband and daughter do, especially as the days get shorter and darker - but do often spiral into lack of hope in some circumstances. Spoken words in the authority God gives us are so powerful to overcome darkness! I'm looking forward to part 2 of your story. And I might have to pick up The Hiding Place, I've heard of it for as long as I can remember but have never read it.

Oh my gosh. I didn’t even know about this book. Definitely adding it to the list! (Like, really!)

It’s funny how we forget the authority that He has given us! Love seeing your name pop up by the way, lovely! Thank you for reading! x
Thank you
♥️♥️♥️
So much honesty and truth in your words. Thank you for vulnerably opening yourself up to those of us reading.
Thank you for reading and being gentle with my vulnerable words, Brianna!

Thank you for reading, dear friend!
Jesus-our light in the darkness! Thank you for this beautiful and encouraging read. I love Corrie Ten Boom’s Hiding place too.
I honestly think it’s going to be one of those books I reread every few years.

We absolutely do! Thank you for sharing this!!! ♥️
This is so good. I've also been richly blessed by The Hiding Place. I've probably read it 5 or 6 times.
