Since I was 15 & learned that I need to have my eyes & ears open so I can process everything that comes across my consciousness against my brain and it’s Bible awareness. This becomes a filter for me, to quote a Bob Seger song “Against the Wind,” “…what to leave in, what to leave out, it was all up to me to decide.” Maybe Christians do not see themselves as day-to-day “filters” of the deluge of what crosses their paths. For me, I do.
The Bible passage does not instruct us to be judgmental, instead it instructs us to process everything that gets thrown at us & to accept what we hear/see as squaring up with Scripture.
